Who it’s for
Which class your child will be in.
Classes follow the school’s September 30 age rule. K2 is the exception: a child can start the month they turn 2, when a space is available.

The school day
A day at Shining Light.
Every morning begins with prayer and worship. Children learn to read with Abeka phonics, and from K4, math is taught with Singapore Math.

Who can join?
Any family whose child will be in K2 through 2nd grade in the 2027–28 school year.
Does it cost anything to join the list?
No. Joining the list is free, and you can leave it at any time.
My child is 2 now. Do we have to wait for fall 2027?
No. A child can start K2 the month they turn 2, including mid-year, when a space is available. To see this year’s options and tuition, answer 5 quick questions.
MoreDoes my child need to be potty trained?
Children in K3 and above must be fully potty trained before attending: consistently accident-free and able to use the restroom independently.
How does admission work for kindergarten through 2nd grade?
An application, an enrollment meeting with the principal (both parents or guardians and your child attend), and an in-house assessment. Please bring teacher recommendations and report cards if you have them.
Do you accept the Child Care Subsidy Program or Military/DoD Fee Assistance?
Shining Light participates in both. Each program decides eligibility and any family portion, not the school. Ask us whether one may apply to your family.
