Application and enrollment meeting

The published application process includes a $100 non-refundable application fee, followed by an enrollment meeting with the Principal. Both parents (or legal guardians) and the prospective student are required to attend.

Assessment and supporting records

The prospective student completes an in-house academic assessment. Submit teacher recommendations and report cards from the current or previous school, if available. The school reviews these with the application and meeting before making an admission decision.

Elementary applications

Applications for the 2027–2028 elementary year open in October, and an assessment is required. For the current year the school has space in every class, so ask admissions about starting sooner.

Continuous enrollment fees

The published continuous enrollment fees are $350 for preschool ($200 materials plus $150 activity) and $550 for kindergarten and elementary ($400 materials plus $150 activity). All tuition and fees are billed through Brightwheel.

Order of review

Applications are reviewed in the order received. Admission follows the school's application, meeting and assessment process; a waitlist may apply when a class is full, and the school contacts you if a place opens.

Age requirements

Students must meet the age requirement by September 30 of the enrollment year. K3 students must be 3 by September 30; K4 students must be 4 by September 30. Ask the school about the K2 cutoff.

Potty training

All children enrolled in the K3 program or above must be fully potty-trained before attending school: consistently accident-free and able to recognize and respond to the need to use the restroom independently.

Preschool enrollment

Preschool admits on a rolling basis through Brightwheel. Ask the school about current availability for each class.

Student support

Shining Light does not currently have a designated special education program or specialized resources for special needs. If you have questions about your child's needs, the school's staff will talk them through with you.

Re-enrollment

Shining Light uses a continuous enrollment model. Enrollment fees for the following school year are billed on February 1 and due on February 15.
